The 143-4518 Data Booster is a component on the engine wiring harness. The Data Booster improves the signal of the Cat Data Link. This signal comes from the engine ECM. The Cat Data Link delivers the signal to one of the following items: display, Engine Vision, EMS and CMS. The Data Booster and the 123-0316 Diode are similar in appearance. However, each component has very different functions. Do not install the Diode in place of the Data Booster. These two components are not interchangeable. The engine will not be damaged if the Diode is installed in place of the Data Booster. If the Diode is installed in place of the Data Booster, the Cat Data Link will not work and error messages will be displayed. The only way to identify the Data Booster is by the part number on the label that is located on the Data Booster.
