Hot oil and components can cause personal injury.Do not allow hot oil or components to contact skin.
Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting, and repair of the product. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids.Refer to Special Publication, NENG2500, "Dealer Service Tool Catalog" for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids on Cat® products.Dispose of all fluids according to local regulations and mandates.
Lower the bulldozer and the ripper to the ground. Turn off the engine. Reference: See Operation and Maintenance Manual, "Stopping the Machine" for additional information.

On the right side of the machine, remove hydraulic oil filler cap (1) in order to relieve the tank pressure. Remove the filler strainer.
Remove four bolts (2) in order to remove the cover from the case drain filter.
Remove case drain filter (3) and properly discard the case drain filter.
Clean the strainer, the filter housing, and the oil filler cap in a clean, nonflammable solvent.
Install a new case drain filter.
Install the strainer, the cover, and the four bolts.

Steering charge filter
Change the steering charge filter. Reference: See “Steering Charge Filter - Change” in this manual for more information.
Fill the hydraulic system with new oil. See Operation and Maintenance Manual, "Capacities (Refill)". Install hydraulic oil filler cap (1).
Start the engine.

Maintain the oil level to the "FULL" mark in the sight gauge for the hydraulic oil tank. Check with the attachments on the ground and cold oil. Add oil, if necessary.
Stop the engine.
