Information:
1. Thoroughly clean all the parts. Put a small amount of hydraulic oil on the parts. 2. Put the large bearing cone (2) on the fixture plate and bolt from tooling (A).3. Lower the temperature of the two bearing cups for two hours minimum.4. Install the two bearing cups in the lower body (1).
Do not turn the body over to install second cup until the first cup is warm.
5. Install two 3/4"-10 NC forged eyebolts and nuts in the lower body. Fasten a hoist and put the body on bearing. Weight of body is 80 lb. (36 kg). 6. Install tooling (A) and put a force of nine tons (8.2 M tons) on the lower bearing and cup. This is to make sure the large bearing cup is in the correct position in the bore of the lower body.7. Remove hydraulic puller (3) and fixture plate (4). 8. Install small bearing cone (5) and fixture plate (6) from tooling (B). 9. Install tooling (B) and put a force of seven tons (6.4 M tons) on the bearing cones and cups. This is to make sure the small bearing cup is in the correct position in the bore of the body.10. Remove tooling (B) and bearings from the lower body. 11. Install drive plate (7) on fixture plate (8) from tooling (C).12. Install the three pins from tooling (C) in the holes in drive plate.13. Heat the large bearing cone in oil to a maximum temperature of 275°F (135°C) for a minimum of one hour.14. Install the large bearing cone on the drive plate (7). 15. Fasten a hoist and put the lower body (1) on the drive plate.16. Install tooling (C) and put nine tons (8.2 M tons) force on the large bearing cone. This is to make sure the bearing cone is in the correct position on the drive plate. The bearing cone and cups must be installed correctly to get a correct bearing adjustment when assembled.17. Remove tooling (C) and lower body from drive plate. 18. Install O-ring (9) on the joint assembly. 19. Put the joint assembly in position under the drive plate. Install tooling (D) and a 5/8"-18 NC bolt 5 1/2 in. long. Pull the joint assembly into position in the drive plate. Install pin (10) to hold the joint assembly in place.20. Fasten a hoist and put the lower body in position on the drive plate. 21. Heat the small bearing cone (11) in oil to a maximum temperature of 275°F (135°C) for a minimum of one hour.22. Install the small bearing cone on the drive plate. 23. Install a 1"-14 NF bolt (12) six inches long with a nut and washer on tooling (E).24. Install the small bearing cone on the drive plate with tooling (E). 25. Install nut on drive plate. Tighten the nut with tool (G) while turning the body until there is a preload on the bearing cones.26. Remove the nut and let the small bearing cone become
