Increasing the delivery amount on the Auto-Lube to lubricate the lower bushing adequately, fills tool retaining pin area (4) of the front head with excess hammer paste that is now delivered to upper bushing (2).

Excess hammer paste (8) Retaining pin plugExcess hammer paste can eventually cause tool retaining pin plugs (8) to push out and empty the excess hammer paste from the front head.Adjust Lubrication Delivery
Inspect hammer paste delivery method. If Auto-Lube is used, check for correct settings and adjust if necessary. If hammer paste is applied manually, 15-20 pumps per bushing every 2 hours is recommended.Excessive hammer paste can over-fill tool retaining pin area (4) in the front head. Exhausted hammer paste from upper bushing (1) can accumulate in tool retaining pin area (4) in the front head if tool is not removed as recommended.Tool (7) should be removed every 50 service hours or once per week, whichever comes first. Tool should be removed for tool, bushing, and retainer pin inspection and maintenance. During this process, the exhausted hammer paste that has accumulated can be removed from the hammer.

If this area is dry, the lower bushing is not receiving enough hammer paste and the lubrication delivery methods should be inspected and adjusted.
