Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting and repair of the product. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids.Refer to Special Publication, NENG2500, "Caterpillar Tools and Shop Products Guide" for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids on Caterpillar products.Dispose of all fluids according to local regulations and mandates.

Open the hood.Reference: Refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual, "General Hazard Information" for information on Containing Fluid Spillage.

Use Tooling (A) to remove engine oil filter (4) .Note: Discard any drained fluids according to local regulations.
Remove two oil hose assemblies (3). Remove hose assembly (1). Plug three oil hose assemblies (3) and (1). Cap the holes in oil filter base (5). Plugs and caps prevent oil loss. Plugs and caps prevent contamination of the engine oil system.
Remove four bolts (2). Remove oil filter base (5) .Installation Procedure

Install oil filter base (5). Install four bolts (2) .
Remove the caps from the holes in oil filter base (5). Remove three plugs from the three oil hose assemblies (3) and (1). Install three oil hose assemblies (3) and (1).

Use Tooling (A) to install engine oil filter (4) .

Close the hood.Reference: Refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual for the installation procedure and the service intervals.
