TURBOCHARGER GP 3167962 - Caterpillar

1. Slide covers (1) and (2) off starting motor (3). 2. Remove two nuts (4) that hold cable assemblies (5) and (6) to starting motor (3). Remove cable assemblies (5) and (6) from starting motor (3). 3. Remove nut (8) and the washers from starting motor (3). Disconnect wire (7) from starting motor (3). Remove cover (9) from starting motor (3). 4. Remove nut (10) and the washer from starting motor (3). Disconnect wire (11) from starting motor (3). 5. Remove three twelve point bolts (12). Using two people, remove starting motor (3) and the gasket from engine block (13). The weight of starting motor (3) is 35 Kg (76 lb).6. If removal of second starting motor is necessary, repeat Steps 2 through 6. The following steps are for the installation of the starting motor. 7. Using two people, put starting motor (3) and the gasket in position on engine block (13). Install three twelve point bolts (12). The weight of the starting motor is 35 Kg (76 lb). 8. Connect wire (11) on starting motor (3). Install nut (10) and the washer. Tighten nut (10) to a torque of 2.25 .25 N m (20 2 lb in). 9. Install cover (9) and wire (7) on starting motor (3). Install nut (8) and the washers. Tighten nut (8) to a torque of 30.5 3.5 Nm (270 31 lb in). 10. Position cable assemblies (5) and (6) on starting motor (3). Install two nuts (4) and the washers. Tighten nuts (4) to a torque of 30.5 3.5 Nm (270 31 lb in). 11. Slide covers (1) and (2) on starting motor (3).
