Removal Procedure
Note: Cleanliness is an important factor. Before the disassembly procedure, the exterior of the component should be thoroughly cleaned. This will help to prevent dirt from entering the internal mechanism.
Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting and repair of the product. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids.Refer to Special Publication, NENG2500, "Caterpillar Dealer Service Tool Catalog" for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids on Caterpillar products.Dispose of all fluids according to local regulations and mandates.
Turn the fuel supply to the OFF position.

Open hood assembly (1) .

Remove bolt (2) and bolt (4). Remove fuel priming pump (3) .Installation Procedure

Position fuel priming pump (3). Install bolt (2) and bolt (4). Tighten bolt (2) to a torque of 10 1 N m (88 8 lb in). Tighten bolt (4) to a torque of 17 2 N m (150 18 lb in).

Close hood assembly (1) .
Turn the fuel supply to the ON position.
