Hot oil and components can cause personal injury. Do not allow hot oil or components to contact the skin. Be sure that the engine and components are cool enough to touch with your bare hand prior to performing any service work.
The cooler bypass elbow was removed for photographic reasons.1. Position a suitable container under cooler bypass elbow (3) to contain any engine oil lost for storage or disposal. Remove two bolts (2) and the washers from cover (1). Remove cover (1), O-ring seal (6), spring (5), and bypass valve (engine oil cooler) (4) from cooler bypass elbow (3). The following steps are for the installation of the bypass valve (engine oil cooler). The cooler bypass elbow was removed for photographic reasons.2. Put bypass valve (engine oil cooler) (4), spring (5), and O-ring seal (6) in position in cooler bypass elbow (3). Put cover (1) in position and install two bolts (2).3. Refill the engine block with oil. The capacity of the engine block is 125 L (33 U.S. gal). Refer to the Operation and Maintenance Manual, Topic "Lubricant and Viscosities" for correct filling procedures.
