Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting, and repair of the product. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids.Refer to Special Publication, NENG2500, "Dealer Service Tool Catalog" for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids on Cat® products.Dispose of all fluids according to local regulations and mandates.
Note: Before you begin the following procedure, swing the upper structure in order to gain access underneath the fuel tank.
Drain the fuel from the fuel tank into a suitable container for storage or disposal. Refer to the Operation and Maintenance Manual for the fuel tank capacity.

Remove bolts (3), the washers, and the spacers.
Remove bolts (1).
Remove cover (2).

Open right rear access door (4). Lock the access door in the "OPEN" position.
Remove bolts (5).

Remove cover (7).

Disconnect harness assembly (10).

Remove bolts (11).
Remove panel (12).
Remove bolts (13).
Remove panel (14).

Close valve (15).
Remove bolts (17).
Loosen hose clamp (16) in order to disconnect hose (18).

Remove bolts (20) and handhold assembly (19).

Attach Tooling (A) and a suitable lifting device to fuel tank (21).

Remove bolts (22).
Remove fuel tank (21).
The weight of the fuel tank is approximately 136 kg (300 lb).
