To prevent possible personal injury, release all the pressure in the hydraulic system before any lines are disconnected.
1. Disconnect hoses (1) from the steering cylinder. Put caps or plugs in the hoses and cylinder to keep out dirt and foreign material.2. Remove nuts (2) from each end of the cylinder.3. Remove steering cylinder (3). The following steps are for the installation of the steering cylinder (servo sender).4. Put steering cylinder (3) in position with nuts (2).5. Connect hoses (1) to the steering cylinder.Disassemble Steering Cylinder (Servo Sender)
Start By:a. remove steering cylinder (servo sender) 1. Remove bolts (2) and heads (4) and (1) from tube (3). 2. Remove rod (7) and piston (6) from rod (5). 3. Remove seal assemblies (8) and ring (9) from piston (6). 4. Remove head (4) from rod (5).5. Remove O-ring seal (10) from head (4). 6. Use tool (A), and remove snap ring (14) from head (4).7. Remove retainer (12) and seal (11) from head (4).8. Remove wiper (13) from retainer (12). 9. Remove two rings (15) from rod (5). Use a press and a spacer with a length of 50.8 mm (2.00 in.) and an outside diameter of not more than 31.75 mm (1.250 in.) and an inside diameter of not less than 25.4 mm (1.00 in.) to remove bearing (16) from rod (5).10. Head (1) (see illustration B68108P1) has the same parts as head (4). For disassembly of head (1), repeat Steps 5 throuh 9.Assemble Steering Cylinder (Servo Sender)
1. Install ring (1) in the groove of rod (3).2. Use a press and a spacer with a length of 50.8 mm (2.00 in.), and outside diameter of not more than 31.75 mm (1.250 in.) and an inside diameter of not less than 25.4 mm (1.00 in.) to install bearing (2) into rod (3).3. Install ring (4) in the groove of rod (3). 4. Use tool group (B) to install wiper (8) in retainer (7) with the lip of the wiper down. Put clean hydraulic oil on the lip of the seal.5. Install seal (5) in head (6) with the lip of the seal toward the inside. Put clean hydraulic oil on the lip of the seal.6. Use tool (A), and install snap ring (9) in the groove of head (6). 7. Put O-ring seal (10) in position on head (6).8. Repeat Steps 1 through 7 for the installation of parts in the head opposite head (6). 9. Put head (6) in position on rod (3). 10. Install ring (12) and seal assemblies (11) on piston (13). 11. Install piston (13) and rod (14) on rod (3). Put clean lubricant on rod threads, and tighten to a torque of 70 15 N m (50 10 lb.ft.). 12. Put heads (6) and (15) in position on tube (16), and install the bolts that hold it.End By:a. install steering cylinder (servo sender)
