Thoroughly clean the mating surfaces of the cylinder head and the engine block prior to the installation of the cylinder head.
Install the new cylinder head gasket.

Attach a suitable lifting device to cylinder head assembly (10). The weight of cylinder head assembly (10) is approximately 234 kg (515 lb). Install cylinder head assembly (10). Install bolts (27). Install all bolts (28). Apply Tooling (B) to bolts (27) and (28) .

Tighten head bolts (28) in the following manner.
Tighten bolts (1) through bolts (26) by the numerical sequence to a torque of 170 10 N m (125 7 lb ft).
Move bolts (1) through bolts (26) by the numerical sequence to an angle of 120 degrees plus minus 5 degrees.
Loosen bolts (1) through bolts (26) to a torque of 0.0 (0.0).
Repeat Steps 4.a through 4.b.
Tighten bolts (27) through bolts (34) to a torque of 55 10 N m (40 7 lb ft).

Connect harness assembly (26) onto cylinder head assembly (10). Install bolts (24) and (25) .

Connect hose (20). Connect hose assemblies (22) and (23). Install bracket (19). Connect tube (21) .

Position the fuel filter and support unit (12). Connect the fuel filter and support (12) as a unit from cylinder head assembly (10). Connect clips (17). Install elbow (15). Connect ether tube (16) onto elbow (15) and cylinder head assembly (10). Connect hose assemblies (13) and (18). Remove bracket (14). Connect harness assembly (11) .

Position tube (7) into muffler (5). Tighten clamp (6). Install elbow (9) and clamp (8). Connect hose (3) and (4) .

Attach Tooling (A) and a suitable lifting device to support (1). The weight of support (1) is approximately 34 kg (75 lb). Install support (1). Install support (2) .
Move the fuel shutoff valve to the ON position. Refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual, "Fuel Tank Shutoff and Drain Control".
Move the battery disconnect switch to the ON position.
Fill the engine with coolant. Refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual, "Cooling System Coolant (ELC) - Change".End By:
Install the injectors. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Injectors - Install ".
Install the rocker shafts and pushrods. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Rocker Shafts and Pushrods - Install".
Install the valve mechanism cover base. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Valve Mechanism Cover Base - Install".
Install the hoods. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Hoods - Install".
