start by: a) remove transmission from transfer gear case 1. Remove the bolt (1) and washer that holds the brake drum and flange.2. Remove the brake drum (2) and flange. 3. Remove the four bolts (3) that hold the brake assembly (4).4. Remove the brake assembly (4).5. Remove the lever (5) cage (6) and shims. Keep the shims with cage (6) for installation.6. Remove the bearing cup and the lip-type seal from the cage.7. Remove the output gear assembly. 8. Remove the bearings from the output gear with tool setup (A). 9. Remove the oil baffle (7) from the bearing cage.10. Remove the bearing cage (8) with two 3/8"-16NC forcing screws.11. Remove the bearing cup and lip-type seal from cage (8). 12. Remove the shaft (9) for the idler gear (10). Remove the O-ring seal from shaft.13. Remove the idler gear (10).14. Remove the bearings, spacer, ring, and cups from the idler gear (10). 15. Remove shaft (11) from the case. Remove the O-ring seal from shaft. 16. Remove the idler gear (14). Remove the bearings (12), spacer (13), ring and cups from the idler gear (14). 17. Remove the cage assembly (15) and bearing.18. Remove the O-ring seal from the cage.19. Remove the flange from the top of cage and remove the roller bearing (16) and race.Install Transfer Gears
1. Install the race and roller bearing in the cage (1) for the drive line gear.2. Install flange on cage. Install the O-ring seal on cage. Put lubricant on the seal. Install the cage (1) in the case.3. Install the rings in the two idler gears. 4. Install the bearing cups in the two idler gears with tool setup (A). 5. Install the bearings (2) and spacer (3) in the idler gear (4).6. Put the gear (4) into position in the case.7. Install the O-ring seals on both shafts. 8. Put shaft (5) into position and install the two bolts.9. Do Steps 5, 6 and 8 for the other idler gear. 10. Put 7M7260 Liquid Gasket Material in the bore of the cage (6) for the lip-type seal. Do not install the seal until the gasket material in the bore is dry. 11. Install the lip-type seal in the bore of the cage (6) with tool setup (B).12. Put the O-ring seal (7) on the cage (6). Put lubricant on the sealing lip of seal and on the O-ring seal.13. Install the
