Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting and repair of the product. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids.Refer to Special Publication, NENG2500, "Caterpillar Tools and Shop Products Guide" for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids on Caterpillar products.Dispose of all fluids according to local regulations and mandates.

Attach chains and a suitable lifting device onto elevator drive (6). Chain (4) is 902 mm (35.5 inch) shorter than chain (3). Chain (5) is 635 mm (25 inch) shorter than chain (3) .
Position elevator drive (6). The weight of elevator drive (6) is approximately 703 kg (1550 lb).

Install bolt (9) into elevator drive (6) .

Install the shims, flange (8), and bolts (7) .

Remove chains (3), (4), and (5) from elevator drive (6) .

Remove Tooling (A) .

Install bolts (1). Tighten bolts (1) to a torque of 400 20 N m (295 15 lb ft). Install bolt (2) .
Fill the speed reducer. Refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual, "Lubrication Viscocities and Refill Capacities".End By:
Install the elevator motor. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Piston Motor (Elevator) - Install".
Install the elevator chain and flights. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Chain and Flights (Elevator) - Install".
