Introduction
The problem that is identified below does not have a known permanent solution. Until a permanent solution is known, use the solution that is identified below.Problem
There have been reports of an engine oil leak on certain 307D and 308D CR Mini Hydraulic Excavators. The leak can occur at the joint that is between the front housing and the engine block. This is at the location of the bracket for mounting the air conditioner's air compressor. The problem is due to an incorrect tightening sequence of the four bolts that attach the bracket. Refer to Illustrations 1 and 2. Bolts (1) were tightened prior to the tightening of bolts (2).

Machines should be checked for this problem before the machines are delivered to the customer.
Remove the counterweight from the machine. This procedure is located in the Service Manual.
Inspect the location for leakage.
If there is no leak, loosen bolts (1) and tighten bolts (2). If bolts (2) move, this indicates that there was a gap between the bracket and the front housing.
Tighten bolts (1). Normally, there is enough clearance in the holes in order to allow the bolts to be tightened without interference. If bolts (1) can be tightened without interference, tighten the bolts and install the counterweight.
If bolts (1) cannot be tightened without interference, you will need to remove the bracket. After removing the bracket, grind out the holes in order to provide more clearance.
