A     221-8647     Driver     1    Note: Put identification on all lines, hoses, wires, and tubes for installation purposes. Use caps and plugs on all lines, hoses, and tubes.
At operating temperature, the engine coolant is hot and under pressure.Steam can cause personal injury.Check the coolant level only after the engine has been stopped and the filler cap is cool enough to touch with the bare hand.Remove the filler cap slowly to relieve pressure.Cooling system conditioner contains alkali. Avoid contact with skin and eyes to prevent personal injury.
Drain the engine coolant to a level below the water temperature regulator. Refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual, "Cooling System Coolant (ELC) - Change".

Loosen hose clamps (1) and (3) that secure hoses (2) and (4). Disconnect hoses (2) and (4). Remove mounting bolts (5) .

Loosen upper clamp (6) on the hose that attaches to the lower part of the regulator housing.

Remove regulator housing (7). Remove water temperature regulator (9). Inspect seal (8) and gasket (10). Replace seal (8) and gasket (10), if necessary.Installation Procedure
Install water temperature regulator (9) in the reverse order of removal.
Use Tooling (A) in order to replace seal (8) .
