Remove the transmission and output transfer gears. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Transmission and Output Transfer Gears - Remove".Note: Cleanliness is an important factor. Before you begin the disassembly procedure, the exterior of the components should be thoroughly cleaned. This will help to prevent dirt from entering the internal mechanism. Precision components can be damaged by contaminants or by dirt. Perform disassembly procedures on a clean work surface. Keep components covered and protected at all times.

Remove bolt (1) and retainer (2) .
Remove O-ring seal (4) (not shown) and yoke (3) .

Install Tooling (A) and a suitable lifting device to cover (5). The weight of cover (5) is approximately 43 kg (95 lb).
Remove 17 bolts (6) from cover (5) .
Remove cover (5) .

Remove lip seal (7) and two O-ring seals (9) from cover (5) .
Remove sleeve (8). Remove the two O-ring seals from sleeve (8) .

Remove spacer (10) .
Install Tooling (B) and a suitable lifting device to transmission assembly (11). The weight of transmission assembly (11) is approximately 544 kg (1200 lb).
Remove 13 bolts (12) .
Use two 3/8" - 16 NC forcing screws to separate transmission assembly (11) from output transfer gears (13) .
Remove transmission assembly (13) .
