Download product status report (PSRPT) Prior to swap.
Use Cat Electronic Technician 2012A
Be sure to check the "Histogram" box.
Use "RAW" for the histogram view option.This report will show the total number of temperature issues prior to the swap and thus identify new issues during subsequent downloads. Upload the PSRPT to Sims.
Park the Truck on a smooth level area.
Turn the key start switch and battery disconnect switch to the OFF position.

Attach a "Do Not Operate" (or similar) warning tag to the start switch before commencing service or repair of the truck. These warning tags Special Instruction, KENR6012 are available from your Caterpillar dealer.Procedure for Trucks Equipped with Standard Tow Hooks
Removal

Drain coolant from radiator.
Disconnect oil lines from transmission oil cooler. Disconnect coolant hoses from transmission oil cooler. Cap oil lines with 5P-2299 Plug (9) to control fluid loss and to keep out contaminants.
Retain mounting hardware (A) for installing heavy-duty cooler and support.
Remove hose connection fittings from existing cooler and save (B) .
Remove existing oil cooler and support (C). Installation

Install new adapters (7) and o-rings (8) to new heavy-duty oil cooler.
Install the saved hose connection fittings (B) .
Install supports (2) with saved fasteners (A).
Install heavy-duty cooler (1) to supports with cable-tank mounting (4) with washers (5)
