Attach Tooling (D) and a suitable lifting device to each side of center axle assembly (24). The weight of center axle assembly (24) is approximately 2487 kg (5485 lb). Position Tooling (C) under suspension frame (22). Use the suitable lifting device and Tooling (C) in order to position center axle assembly (24) .

Apply Tooling (E) to bolts (26). Install bolts (26) in order to connect mount assembly (25) to center axle assembly (24) .

Install pin (23) .

Remove Tooling (C) from suspension frame (22). Install bolt (19), washer (21) and nut (20). Connect grease hose assembly (18) .
Install the tire and rim for the center axle. Use the following procedure in order to install the tire and rim for the center axle.

Attach a suitable lifting device to tire and rim (16) of the center axle. The weight of the tire and rim (16) is approximately 862 kg (1900 lb). Install tire and rim (16). Install lug nuts (17) .

Use two people in order to remove Tooling (B). The weight of Tooling (B) is approximately 37 kg (80 lb). Lower the truck body and the water tank.

Install guard (15). Install bolts (13) and (14). Repeat for the other side.

Connect drive shaft (6) to the front of the center axle. Connect hose assemblies (7), (8), (9), (10), (11) and (12) .

Connect drive shaft (5) to the rear of the center axle. Connect hose assemblies (3) and (4).

Use Tooling (A) in order to lower the rear of the machine. Remove Tooling (A) from the center axle.
Tighten lug nuts (17) to a torque of 475 60 N m (350 44 lb ft). Lug nuts (17) were installed in Step 5.a.

Remove the solid steel block (1) between the rear of equalizer arm (2) and the suspension stops on both sides of the machine.End By: Install the stabilizer rod. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Center Axle Stabilizer Rod - Remove and Install".
