Information:

Introduction
The governor gain parameters are set at the factory. The factory default setting is recommended for most applications. The default settings should allow the engine to respond quickly to transient load changes. The default settings should allow the engine to remain stable during all operating conditions. If the factory default setting does not provide satisfactory performance, the governor gain parameters can be adjusted.Do not perform any procedure in the Special Instruction until you read this information and you understand this information.Governor Gain Parameters
The parameters in table 1 can be adjusted.
Table 1
Parameter     Valid Range
Governor Gain Factor     0 - 65,535
Governor Minimum Stability Factor     0 - 65,535
Governor Maximum Stability Factor     0 - 65,535    Note: No engineering units are associated with the numbers in table 1. The stability factor in engineering units will have the same value for transient conditions and steady state conditions.Note: The range of the programmable setting is wide for flexibility. Do not expect to use the whole range. If the programmable setting is greater than the valid range, the system will revert to the factory default value. The governor algorithm uses two stability factors:
The minimum stability factor is active under conditions that are close to a steady state.
The maximum stability factor is active under conditions that are more transient in nature. The Electronic control Module (ECM) will decide one of the following factors that the ECM will use.The Maximum Stability Factor is Active
If the engine speed is more than 20 rpm from the target speed and either accelerating or decelerating away from the target speed the maximum is active. The Minimum Stability Factor is Active
The minimum stability factor has two conditions. If the engine speed is within 20 rpm of the target speed. If the engine speed is more than 20 rpm from the target speed and either accelerating or decelerating toward the target speed minimum gain is active.Tuning Procedure
Turn the Engine Control Switch (ECS) to the COOLDOWN/STOP position. Connect the electronic technician. Ensure that engine overspeed protection is enabled before you begin the adjustment procedure. Adjusting governor gain parameters without engine overspeed protection can result in serious engine damage. Ensure that engine overspeed protection is ON. Engine overspeed is configured on the setup screen of service monitoring system in Caterpillar Electronic Technician (Cat ET).
Personal injury or death can result from engine overspeed. If the engine overspeeds, it can cause injury or parts damage. The engine should be equipped with a separate shutdown device, to protect against engine overspeed. Do not use for emergency shutdown.
Start the engine. Ensure that the engine has reached the rated speed.
Go to the configuration parameters screen in Cat ET.Note: No password is required for the adjustment of the governor gain parameters. Enter the new value as you would for the low idle adjustment.Note: The
