U-BOLT 1078480 - Caterpillar

Before removing or disconnecting any hydraulic lines, mark the line and connection to aid correct reassembly. After removal or disconnection of lines, immediately cap off open ports and line ends to prevent ingress of dirt and debris which will damage the system when the machine is returned to service.
1. Remove eleven bolts (1), washers (2) and ease front cover (3) from the front of the cab. Disconnect two breather pipes from the rear of the cover and remove the front cover. 2. Disconnect five hydraulic hoses (4), (5), (6), (7) and (8). 3. Remove four bolts (9), washers (10), spacers (11) and remove the HMU from the machine.HMU - Install
Prior to assembly make sure all components are clean. Precision fitted components will be damaged by foreign material.
1. Assemble four spacers (11) onto the HMU (12). A small amount of grease will help to retain the spacers in position. 2. Install the HMU (12) onto the steering spigot and secure with four bolts (9) and washers (10).3. Install five hydraulic hoses (4), (5), (6), (7) and (8) and tighten to a torque setting of 54N m (40 lb.ft). HMU - Disassemble
Disassemble and assemble the HMU in a clean area. Precision fitted components will be damaged by foreign material.
1. Remove five hydraulic fittings from the HMU.2. Put aligN.ment marks on the pump section. 3. Remove seven bolts (1) that hold the (2) together. 4. Remove end cap (3), geroter assembly body (4) and rotor (5). Remove the O-ring seals from end cap (3) and geroter assembly body (4).5. Remove spacers (6), drive (7) and spacer plate (8). 6. Remove spool (10) and sleeve (9) as an assembly. Twist the spool and sleeve assembly slowly when removing to assist removal.7. Extract bearing races (11) and thrust bearing (12) from the HMU body.
Springs (14) are under compression. To prevent personal injury, be sure to position springs (14) in a direction away from you or anyone during removal.
8. Remove pin (13) and remove spool (10) from sleeve (9). Disengage sleeve (9) from springs (14). 9. Extract retainer ring (15), bushing (16) and O-ring seal (17).10. Remove
