At operating temperature, the hydraulic oil tank is hot and under pressure. Hot oil can cause burns. To prevent possible personal injury, release the pressure in the hydraulic system before and hydraulic lines or components are disconnected or removed.
4. Release the pressure in the hydraulic system as follows:a. Shut off the engine.b. Move the control levers through their full travel strokes. This will relieve any pressure that may be present in the pilot system.c. Slowly loosen the air breather cap on the hydraulic oil tank to release the pressure.d. Tighten the air breather cap on the hydraulic oil tank.e. The pressure in the hydraulic system has now been released. Lines and components can now be removed. 5. Disconnect hydraulic hose assemblies (2). Support the rod end of tilt cylinder (1) with a nylon lifting strap. Remove bolt (3) and pin assembly (4). 6. Remove bolt (6) and pin (5). Remove tilt cylinder (1). The weight of the tilt cylinder is approximately 86 kg (190 lb). Install the tilt cylinder in the reverse order of removal.7. Lubricate all pin bores with 5P-0960 Molybdenum Grease before assembly.8. Bores must be free of paint and be clean, dry, and rust free at assembly.9. Separate the steering frame lock link. Start By:a. remove tilt cylinders 1. Check the condition of bearing (1) located in the end of cylinder body (13). Use Tool (A) to replace bearing (1) with a new part if needed.2. Put the tilt cylinder on Tool (B).3. Remove crown (7) from cylinder body (15).4. Remove piston (4) and cylinder rod (8) as follows: a. Slide rod assembly (8) and head (5) out of cylinder body (15).b. Remove wear ring (14) and seal assembly (13) from piston (4).c. Remove bolt (2) and washer (3) that holds piston (4) to cylinder rod (8).d. Remove piston (4) from cylinder rod (8).5. Remove head (5) from cylinder rod (8) as follows: a. Slide cylinder body (15) back onto head (5) and cylinder rod (8).b. Install crown (7). Tighten crown (7) hand tight.c. Pull cylinder body (15), head (5) and crown (7) away from cylinder rod (8) as a unit.d. Remove crown (7) and head (5) from cylinder body (15).6. Remove the back-up ring and O-ring seal (6) from the outside diameter of head (5).7. Remove lip-type seal (9), wear ring (10), U-cup seal (11) and seal assembly (12) from head (5). Check the condition of all seals and components. If any parts are worn or damaged use new parts for replacement. The following steps are for the assembly of the tilt cylinder.8. Install wear ring (10), seal assembly (12) and U-cup seal (11) in head (5).9. Put 7M-7456 Sealant in the groove for seal (9). Install lip-type seal (9) in head (5) with the lip of the seal facing away from the inside of the cylinder. Install the back-up ring and O-ring seal (6) on the outside diameter
