Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting and repair of the machine. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids.Refer to Special Publication, NENG2500, "Caterpillar Tools and Shop Products Guide", for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids in Caterpillar machines.Dispose of all fluids according to local regulations and mandates.

Drain plug (1) for the pump drive oil is located under the center of the upper structure on the right side.Note: Refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual, "General Hazard Information" for information on containing fluid spillage.
Remove oil drain plug (1) .
The oil drain hose is located in the toolbox. Place the end of the oil drain hose into a suitable oil container.
Screw the hose fitting onto the ecology drain valve. The oil drain hose opens the valve and the oil drains.
Remove the oil drain hose and reinstall the oil drain plug.
Enter the hydraulic pump room. Refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual, "Access Doors and Covers" for more information.

Dipstick (3) and filler cap (2) are located in the right rear corner of the hydraulic pump room. Remove dipstick (3) and remove filler cap (2) .
Add the correct quantity of oil through the fill port. Refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual, "Lubricant Viscosities" and Operation and Maintenance Manual, "Capacities (Refill)" for the correct type of oil and volume of oil.

Maintain the oil level between the marks on dipstick (3) .
Clean filler cap (2). Inspect the O-ring. Replace the O-ring if the O-ring is worn or damaged.
Reinstall the filler cap and reinstall the dipstick.
Inspect the drained oil for metal chips or particles. If you find any chips or particles, contact your Caterpillar dealer.
Dispose of drained oil according to local regulations.
