You must read and understand the warnings and instructions contained in the Safety section of this manual before performing any operation or maintenance procedures.Engine Crankcase Oil and Filter
Change
1. Remove the drain plug and allow the oil to drain.2. Clean and install the drain plug.3. Open the access door on the left side of the machine.4. Remove and discard the crankcase oil filter element. Tighten 3/4 turn more.7. Remove cap (1) to add the oil. See "Lubricant Viscosities & Refill Capacities."8. Always measure the oil with dipstick (2) to make certain the quantity of oil added is correct.9. Maintain the oil between the ADD and FULL marks on the dipstick.10. Close the access door.Cooling System
Add Coolant Additive
Do not add coolant additive until you have read and understand the material in the "Cooling System Specifications" section.
1. Open the access door on the right side of the machine.2. Remove the recovery reservoir cap slowly to relieve pressure.3. Add .25 liters (1/2 pint) of liquid coolant additive.4. Install the fill cap.5. Close the access door.Batteries
Check Electrolyte Level
Tighten the battery retainers every 1000 hours on all batteries.Check the following at least every 1000 hours, and more often as conditions require:* Clean the top of the batteries with a clean cloth.* Keep the terminals clean and coated with petroleum jelly. At the proper charging rate, in a moderate climate, a battery should not require more than 30 cc (1 ounce) of water per cell per week.Check the cells weekly in extreme temperatures, cell water usage could be higher.1. Open the battery access cover.2. Clean the battery surface with a clean cloth. Keep the terminals clean and coated with petroleum jelly. Install the post cover after coating.3. Inspect the electrolyte level in each battery cell, except maintenance free. Maintain the level to the bottom of the fill openings with distilled water. If distilled water is not available, use clean drinking water.4. Close the access cover.Battery or Battery Cable Replacement
When replacing batteries or battery cables, use the following procedure:1. Turn off the start switch and all electrical loads (lights, electric switches, etc.).2. Disconnect the negative battery cable terminal at the battery(s) that goes to the starter.3. Proceed with necessary system repairs.4. Install the negative battery cable.Fan and Alternator Belts
Inspect-Adjust
1. Open the access door on the right side of the machine.2. Inspect the condition and adjustment of the belts. If the belts are damaged, replace them in sets.3. Measure the deflection of the belt. Apply approximately 110 N (25 lb) force midway between the pulleys.Deflection should be 14 to 20 mm (9/16 to 13/16 in).4. If the deflection is not correct, loosen the alternator mounting bolts and adjust the belts.5. Tighten the mounting bolts.6. Close the access door.Operator's Station Swivel Lever
