Introduction
This Technical Information Bulletin describes damage that may occur to the sensor harness for the rear axle. The solution for this damage is identified below.Problem
The 236-7711 Sensor Harness (Rear Axle Oil Temperature) may have inadequate length between the clips at the differential and the trunnion. This may cause the harness to be damaged when the rear axle oscillates.Potential indicators of this problem include the following:
The indicator for rear axle oil temperature may flash.
The indicator for rear axle oil temperature may remain on steadily.
Abnormal service codes for the sensor for the rear axleSolution
Check the harness. If the harness is undamaged, move 25 mm (1.0 inch) of slack from the section of the harness that is nearest to the sensor. Move the slack to the other side of the clip that is nearest to the sensor.If the harness is damaged, replace the harness with a new 236-7711 Sensor Harness (Rear Axle Oil Temperature). The green tape on the new harness will indicate the correct location for the clips for the new harness.
