When reporting the repair, use "PS50245" as the Part numberand "7755" as the Group Number. Use "96" as the Warranty Claim DescriptionCode and use "Z" as the SIMS Description Code. The information supplied in this serviceletter may not be valid after the termination date of this program. Donot perform the work outlined in this Service Letter after the terminationdate without first contacting your Caterpillar product analyst. Landfill and bio gas water cooled exhaust manifoldscan develop premature coolant leaks through external or internal weldedjoints. These leaks have been determined to be the results of unacceptableweld processing. External leaks result in messy engine appearance and internalleaks can fill one or more combustion chambers and result in serious internalengine damage.AFFECTED PRODUCT
All manifolds produced after February, 1998 asdetermined by supplier code (2281) stamped on rear exhaust port next toturbocharger mounting flange. The code is defined as follows:
