Description of Change: A new bellows assembly is used on the turbine inlet of the turbochargers on these engines. The new bellows assembly has several improvements that will help prevent cracking. The following improvements have been made:
The overall length of the bellows assembly has been increased.
The length of the internal liner (1) has been increased.
The bellows are now made of three-ply material.
The distance between the square ferrule (2) and the first corrugation has been increased.

Adaptable To: The new 179-1518 Bellows Assembly is a direct replacement for the former 159-8831 Bellows Assembly. The bellows assemblies are components of the 100-3144 Exhaust Manifold Group in 3516 Engines and in 3516B Engines. The bellows assemblies are components of the 107-7184 Exhaust Manifold Group in 3512B Engines. The locations of the 179-1518 Bellows Assemblies (3) are shown in Illustration 2.

This illustration shows the location of the 179-1518 Bellows Assembly (3) in the Exhaust Manifold Groups. The top view of the engine is shown. Surface (X) is the rear face of the cylinder block. The line (Y) represents the center line of the turbochargers.The effectivity of the 179-1518 Bellows Assembly is listed in Table 1. The new bellows assemblies are adaptable to all earlier engines that are listed in the subtitle. The former bellows assemblies have been cancelled.
