1. Remove four long bolts (1) that hold the pump together.2. Turn the pump on end as shown. 3. Remove two short bolts (3).4. Remove cover assembly (2) from the pump. 5. Remove O-ring seal (4) from the cover assembly. Check the condition of the seal. If the seal has damage, use new parts for replacement. 6. Remove seal (5) from the cover assembly.7. Remove O-ring seal (6) from the cover assembly. Check the condition of the seal. If the seal has damage, use new parts for replacement.8. Remove two bearings (7) from the cover assembly. 9. Remove idler gear assembly (8) and drive gear assembly (9) from the manifold and body assemblies.10. Remove body assembly (10) from the manifold assembly. 11. Remove O-ring seal (11) from the manifold assembly.12. Remove two bearings (12) from the manifold assembly.Assemble Transmission Oil Pump
1. Make sure all of the parts of the pump are clean and free of dirt and foreign material.2. Put clean SAE 30 oil on all the parts of the pump. 3. Install the two bearings in the manifold with tooling (A) and a press until the bearings are .062 in. (1.57 mm) below the machined surface of the manifold. Make sure the junctions in the bearings are 30° 15° from a centerline through the bearing bores and with the junctions toward outlet port (1) in the manifold.4. The bore in the bearings (new) must be 1.2511 to 1.2517 in. (31.786 to 31.793 mm). 5. Install O-ring seal (3) in the manifold.6. Put body assembly (2) in position on the manifold assembly. 7. Install idler gear assembly (4) and drive gear assembly (5) in the body and manifold assemblies as shown.8. The clearance between the gear assemblies and the machined surface of the manifold assembly (new) must be .0019 to .0035 in. (0.048 to 0.089 mm). 9. Install the two bearings in the cover with tool (A) and a press until the bearings are .062 in. (1.57 mm) below the machined surface of the cover. Make sure the junctions in the bearings are 30° 15° from a center line through the bearing bores and with the junctions toward outlet port (6) in the cover.10. The bore in the bearings (new) must be 1.2511 to 1.2517 in. (31.786 to 31.793 mm). 11. Turn the cover assembly over. Install the lip type seal in the cover assembly with tool (B). Install the seal until it makes contact with the counterbore in the cover assembly and with the lip of the seal toward the outside of the cover assembly.12. Put clean SAE 30 oil on the lip of the seal.13. Install the O-ring seal in the body assembly. 14. Put cover assembly (7) in position on the body assembly.15. Install two short bolts (9).16. Install O-ring seal (8). 17. Install four long bolts (10) that hold the pump together. After assembly, the pump must turn freely by hand.End By:a) install transmission oil pump
