Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting and repair of the product. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids.Refer to Special Publication, NENG2500, "Caterpillar Tools and Shop Products Guide" for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids on Caterpillar products.Dispose of all fluids according to local regulations and mandates.

Install the steering frame lock into the locked position, as shown.
Start the engine. Lift the blade of the machine several times in order to warm the hydraulic oil.
Stop the engine. Lower the blade to the ground.

Install a 30000 kPa (4351 psi) pressure gauge onto the pressure tap (2). The pressure tap is located on the discharge line of the implement pump (1) .
Start the engine. Engage the parking brake. Run the machine at high idle. Raise the blade of the machine and keep the lift control lever in the lift position. Record the pressure on the pressure gauge. The pressure should not rise above 24100 172 kPa (3495.5 25 psi) if the main relief valve is functioning properly.
Lower the blade of the machine to the ground. Stop the engine. Remove the pressure gauge if the pressure reading was correct. Proceed to step 7 if the pressure reading was not correct.

The main relief valve needs to be adjusted. The main relief valve (4) is located on the bank valve for the implement system. Loosen locknut (5). Turn adjusting nut (6) clockwise in order to increase the pressure. Turn the adjusting nut counterclockwise in order to decrease the system pressure.
Check the system pressure again. Perform step 7 again.
