Remove Flywheel
1. Fasten a hoist to the flywheel with tooling (A).2. Remove two of bolts (1), and install two 1"-14 NF guide bolts 6 in. (152 mm) long in their place. Remove the remainder of bolts (1).3. Install two 5/8"-11 NC eyebolts in each side of flywheel (2), and use a pry bar to remove flywheel (2) from the end of the crankshaft. 4. Remove flywheel (2) from the engine. The weights of the flywheels are as follows: 3508 Engines - 126 kg (278 lb.), 3512 Engines - 168 kg (370 lb.), 3516 Engines - 168 kg (370 lb.).5. If necessary, remove the ring gear from the flywheel with a hammer and punch.Install Flywheel
1. If the flywheel ring gear has damage, a replacement can be made as follows:a. Heat the ring gear to a maximum temperature of 316°C (600°F), and install it on the flywheel so the chamfer of the gear teeth will be toward the starter pinion when the flywheel is installed. 2. Install two 1"-14 NF guide bolts 6 in. (152 mm) long in the end of the crankshaft.3. Fasten a hoist to the flywheel with tooling (A), and put it in position on the guide bolts. Make sure the mark on the flywheel is in alignment with the mark on the crankshaft.4. Put 2P2506 Thread Lubricant on the threads of the bolts, and install the bolts in flywheel (1). Remove the hoist and tooling (A) from flywheel (1). Install the remainder of the bolts, and tighten all of the bolts to a torque of 1150 60 N m (848 44 lb.ft.).
