When submitting claim for Parts Stock Action, Use the appropriate 99Z as the s/n, the appropriate Service Letter Program Number as the Part number in the Part Causing Failure field, "7751" as the Group Number, "56" as the Description Code.
The information supplied in this service letter may not be valid after the termination date of this program.Do not perform the work outlined in this Service Letter after the termination date without first contacting your Caterpillar product analyst.
This Revised Service Letter replaces the 18Jan2012 Service Letter. A change has been made to the Title.

PROBLEM
Certain 0R1570, 0R1571, 0R1572, 0R2861, 0R8915, 0R9393, 10R4401, 10R8409, 10R8616 Cylinder Kits with date codes between August 19, 2011 through August 21, 2011, may have been assembled without one of the piston pin retainers.
ACTION REQUIRED
Inspect all 0R1570, 0R1571, 0R1572, 0R2861, 0R8915, 0R9393, 10R4401, 10R8409, and 10R8616 Cylinder Kits in dealer parts stock.
Inspect the package date code label on the outside of the boxes of these cylinder kits. (Image1) The first nine characters of the date code indicate the Day, Month, and Year. The last five characters (P68HL) indicate where the cylinder kit is sourced from. Determine if the date code falls in the range of D19M08Y11 through D21M08Y11 (19 August 2011 thru 21 August 2011),and (P68HL) follows these numbers.
If the source is not (P68HL), no action needs to be taken.
If the date code on the package is in the date code range of D19M08Y11 thru D21M08Y11 and (P68HL) follows these numbers, then inspect the piston pin on each end for a possible missing piston pin retainer. (Image2) If a retainer is missing, then install the required retainer. (Image3) Mark the package to indicate it has been inspected according to this program (PI7#####). Return the part to dealer parts stock.
If the date code on the package is not in the date code range of D19M08Y11 thru D21M08Y11, mark the package to indicate it has been inspected according to this program (PI7#####). Return the part to dealer parts stock.

SERVICE CLAIM ALLOWANCES
Submit one claim for all parts removed from dealer parts stock. 0.2 hours and one retainer will be allowed for each cylinder kit that is inspected and reworked in dealer parts stock.
PARTS DISPOSITION
Handle the parts in accordance with your Warranty Bulletin on warranty parts handling.
