Remove Crankshaft Vibration Damper (3516)
1. Remove the bolts and damper guard (1) from the engine. 2. Remove two bolts (2), and install two 1/2"-13 NC guide bolts. Remove the remainder of bolts (2). Use two persons to remove damper assembly (3). The weight of the damper assembly is 34 kg (75 lb.). 3. Remove two bolts (5), and install two 1"-14 NF guide bolts. Install tool (A) and a hoist, and remove the remainder of bolts (5) and damper assembly (4). The weight of damper assembly (4) is 79 kg (175 lb.).Install Crankshaft Vibration Damper (3516)
1. Inspect the viscose damper for signs of leakage or a dented (damaged) housing (1). Either condition can cause the metal ring (2) to make contact with the housing and affect damper operation. 2. Inspect the rubber vibration damper for signs of movement (slippage) between outer ring (3) and inner ring (4). Also inspect the damper for any signs of rubber deterioration. If either of these conditions exist, a replacement of the damper assemblies must be made. 3. Install two 1"-14 NF guide bolts in the end of the crankshaft. Fasten a hoist to damper assembly (5) with tool (A). 4. Put the damper assembly in position on the guide bolts, and make sure mark (6) on the damper assembly is in alignment with mark (7) on the end of crankshaft. Install the bolts to hold damper assembly in position, and remove tool (A) and the guide bolts. Install the remainder of bolts (8). 5. Install two 1/2"-13 NC guide bolts in damper assembly (5). Use two persons to install damper assembly (9). Install the bolts to hold damper assembly (9) to damper assembly (5). Remove the guide bolts, and install the remainder of the bolts. 6. Put damper guard (10) in position, and install the bolts to hold it in position on the engine.
