This Program must be administered either before or after failure.In either case the decision whether to apply the Program is made by the dealer. When reporting the repair, use "PS42727" as the Part Numberand "7755" as the Group Number. If administered before failure, use "56" as the Warranty Claim Description Code and "T" as the SIMS Description code.If administered after failure, use "96" as the Warranty Claim Description Code, and "Z" as the SIMS Description Code.

PROBLEM
Some engines were shipped without a coolant level sensor installed. The Electronic Control Module (ECM) will not detect if the engine loses coolant during operation. Engine damage can result from the engine operating with low coolant level.

ACTION REQUIRED
Refer to image1 for the location of the coolant level sensor.
1. Locate the coolant level sensor port on the back of the heat exchanger expansion tank. The sensor port is located on the left side of the engine. There will be a brass plug if the sensor is not present.
2. Remove the threaded plug. Use a container to catch any coolant that drains from the expansion tank.
3. The sensor is supplied with Vibra-Seal thread sealant applied to the threads. No other sealant should be applied.
4. Install the sensor in the port 3 or 4 complete turns.
5. Allow some coolant to drip from the sensor port on the outside of the tank. Loosen the sensor if necessary. This is to allow air to escape from behind the sensor boss inside the tank.
6. Tighten the sensor to a torque of 22 +/- 3 Nm (16 +/- 2 lb ft) using a 22 mm wrench.
7. Refill the expansion tank as necessary.
8. Plug the sensor into the harness.
