Removal Procedure
Keep all parts clean from contaminants.Contaminants may cause rapid wear and shortened component life.
Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting and repair of the product. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids.Refer to Special Publication, NENG2500, "Caterpillar Tools and Shop Products Guide" for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids on Caterpillar products.Dispose of all fluids according to local regulations and mandates.
Drain the coolant from the cooling system into a suitable container for storage or disposal.

Remove eight bolts (1) and two nuts (2) .
Tap water pump (3) with a soft hammer in order to loosen water pump (3) .
Remove water pump (3) and the gasket.Installation Procedure
Keep all parts clean from contaminants.Contaminants may cause rapid wear and shortened component life.
Replace the water pump gasket with a new gasket. Use new Caterpillar parts for replacement.

Install the gasket and water pump (3) .
Install eight bolts (1) and two nuts (2) .Note: Fill the radiator to the proper level. Purge all of the air from the cooling system. Refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual, SEBU7208 for the proper procedure.
Start the engine. Check the engine for any coolant leaks.
