Keep all parts clean from contaminants.Contaminants may cause rapid wear and shortened component life.
Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting and repair of the product. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids.Refer to Special Publication, NENG2500, "Caterpillar Tools and Shop Products Guide" for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids on Caterpillar products.Dispose of all fluids according to local regulations and mandates.
Clean all parts and inspect all parts. If any parts are worn or damaged, use new parts for replacement.
Lubricate the O-ring seals with the lubricant that is being sealed.

Install O-ring seal (21). Install O-ring seals (20) .

Fasten Tooling (A), Tooling (B), Tooling (C), and a suitable lifting device to the transfer gears, the torque converter, and the transmission, as shown. Position transfer gears, the torque converter, and the transmission as a unit onto the differential housing. The weight of the transfer gears, the torque converter, and the transmission as a unit is approximately 1134 kg (2500 lb).

Install nuts (18) and bolts (19) that hold the transmission and the differential together. Connect hose assembly (17) .

Connect hose assembly (15) .
Position manifold (12) and install bolts (13). Connect hose assemblies (14) and (16) .
Position valve (10) and install nuts (9). Install hose assembly (11) .

Install the clip and connect harness assembly (8). Install the clip and connect harness assembly (6). Connect harness assembly (7) .

Connect harness assembly (5) and install bolt (4). Connect tube assemblies (3) .
Install the pump to the cushion-hitch. Refer to Machine SystemsDisassembly and Assembly, "Pump (Cushion-Hitch) - Install".
Install the pump to the hydraulic system and the steering system. Refer to Machine Systems Disassembly and Assembly, "Pump (Hydraulic and Steering) - Install".
Install the drive shaft. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Drive Shaft - Remove and Install".

Install drain plug (2). Install drain plugs (1) .
Install the power train guard. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Power Train Guard (Transmission) - Remove and Install".
Fill the differential case and the transmission to the correct level. Refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual, "Lubricant Viscosities and Refill Capacities".
