Typical Example1. Remove bolts (1) from track roller.2. Lift one side of the machine and install two stands to hold the machine up.3. Loosen the track and remove track roller (2). Weight of track roller is 68 kg (150 lb). The following steps are for the installation of the track rollers.4. Put track roller (2) in a position on track.5. Remove the two stands and lower the machine.6. Install bolts that hold the roller to roller frame. Tighten bolts to a torque of 750 80 N m (550 60 lb ft).7. Tighten the track. Start By:a. remove track roller 1. Remove plug (1) from the roller rim (2). Drain the oil from the roller.2. Drive out pins (3) from end collars (4) and shaft (5). Remove end collars (4), Duo-Cone seals (6) and thrust washers (7)3. Remove O-ring seals (8) from the shaft.4. Remove Duo-Cone seals (6) from the end collars and roller rim. Put identification on the seals to prevent mixing at assembly.5. Remove shaft (5) from the roller rim. The following steps are for the assembly of the track roller.7. Clean and inspect all parts for wear or damage. Replace all parts that are damaged or worn.
Use caution when using Trichlorethane. Follow the manufacturer's recommendations on the container when using Trichlorethane.
8. Make sure all parts are free of dirt or other foreign material. Use Trichlorethane and a clean cloth or paper towel for cleaning.9. Lubricate roller bearings (9) with a thin coat of oil. Install shaft (5) into the roller rim (2).10. Install O-ring seals (8) on shaft (5)11. Install Duo-Cone seals (6) in roller rim (2) and end collars (4) with tooling (A). The rubber seals and all surfaces that make contact with the seals must be clean and dry. After installation of the seals, put oil on the contact surfaces of the metal seals.12. Lubricate o-ring seals (8), position end collars (4) and compress Duo-Cone seals (6) until pins (3) can be installed. Install pin (3) in both ends of the roller.13. Fill track roller with 600 ml (1.27 pt.) of SAE 30 CD oil.14. Use tooling (B) to check end play of shaft (5) in roller rim (2).
