Remove the counterweight. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Counterweight - Remove and Install".
Remove the pump drive. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Pump Drive - Remove and Install". Note: SERVICE DATA: TOOLING (ZZ) WILL NOT BE IDENTIFIED IN PHOTOGRAPHS IN THE REMOVAL OR THE INSTALLATION. THIS TOOLING IS SHOWN IN ORDER TO ASSIST THE EXPERIENCED SERVICEMAN.
Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting and repair of the product. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids.Refer to Special Publication, NENG2500, "Caterpillar Tools and Shop Products Guide" for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids on Caterpillar products.Dispose of all fluids according to local regulations and mandates.
Drain the hydraulic fluid into a suitable container. Refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual, "Hydraulic System Oil - Change".

Disconnect hose assembly (3).
Loosen clamps (5).
Disconnect hose (4).
Loosen clamp (1).
Disconnect hose (2).

Disconnect hose assemblies (6), (7), and (8).

Install Tooling (A) in order to support piston and vane pump (10).
Loosen bolt (9).

Remove bolts (11).
Use Tooling (A) in order to remove piston and vane pump (10). The weight of piston and vane pump (10) is approximately 64 kg (140 lb).
