Attach. (1-Rework Procedure)Rework Procedure
Remove the engine and torque converter from themachine.
Remove existing damper, front housing, camshaftdrive gear, and cluster idler gear from engine.
Clean and inspect the engine to ensure it is freeof defective parts and any debris from the gear failure.
Conversion to the new wider cam gear and clusteridler gear assembly requires modification to the front gear housing. Thefront housing inside surface must be machined, as shown in Figure 1.
Modify front engine support mount to dimensionsshown in Figure 2 (if required), to ensure damper clearance. Do not flamecut ? engine support must be machined.
The 1059083 Engine Support Gp (1059082Support) used on 988F Wheel Loaders requires modification. The 7E6385 Engine Support Gp (4N2084Support) used on 836 Compactors does not require modification.
Install new 1950318 Camshaft Drive Gear onto camshaft(refer to SENR1063 Disassembly and Assembly instruction detail). Preferredmethod is to Cold Press cam gear onto the camshaft. If this method is notpossible, the Hot Press Method may be used if done properly.
Note: Do NOT heat the Cam Drive Gear witha torch. Do NOT heat the Cam Drive Gear to a temperature greater than 205Degrees C (400 Degrees F), nor for more than 1 hour.
Install new 1950316 Cluster Idler Gear Assembly.
Install camshaft assembly into engine.
Install the front housing, modified engine support,1678132 Viscous Damper As., 6N6037 Adapter, 6N7654 Spacer, and the requiredpulley assembly.
