1. Remove steer lock pin (1). 2. Remove two pins (2) from the steer cylinders.3. Install Tool (A) to support the pivot assembly. 4. Remove two bolts (4) from the pivot pins.5. Install a spacer between the upper and lower pins. Push pin (3) down until the bottom pin is out of the bore. 6. Raise pin (3) up to a position between the bores and hold in place with bolt (4). Move the pivot housing away from the machine. The weight of the pivot housing is 193 kg (425 lb). 7. Replace three bushings (5) in the pivot housing if necessary.
Split Bushing.
The earlier machines were not equipped with split bushings, the later machines are equipped with them. The following steps are for the assembly of the steer pivot. 8. Use Tool (A) to position the pivot housing on the machine. Install pin (3) in the top pin bore with the shims as determined in Steps 17 through 20 in the topic, "Remove & Install Yoke", in this module. Install pin (4). When installing the split bushings make sure they are at 3 o'clock or 9 o'clock to alleviate stress to the bushings.9. Install the bottom pin with the shims as determined in Steps 17 through 20, "Remove & Install Yoke", in this module. Install the retaining bolt. 10.
