Extended periods of the generator set running at high idle/no load can lead to the aftertreatment ECM logging a 3516-17 Catalyst Reagent Concentration : Low - least severe (1) code.If the generator set is run at high idle/no load where the Clean Emission Module (CEM) does not reach the 200° C (392° F), the 3516-17 can log after 30 minutes of running. This code is a software issue.Solution
Verify that all probable causes have been checked and are within acceptable range. Refer to Troubleshooting, KENR6887 for more information.
If extended periods of run time at high idle/no load operation are anticipated, power cycling of battery power will prevent the 3516-17 code from logging.
If the 3516-17 code is active, 30 minutes of running the generator set under load is required.The generator set load should be enough where the CEM inlet temperature is at least 250° C (482° F) for 30 minutes.Once this threshold is reached, the 3516-17 code will become inactive.Reference the Operation and Maintenance Manual for partial load operation.
