The Multidrop Bus in the UPS 1200 UPS/SMS or MMU System provides a path for the boards that are connected to the bus to transmit serial data to the APC2 Controller. Each board that is connected to the bus has a 100-Ohm terminating resistor that is selectable via a jumper that must be installed if that board is the last board on the bus. Each board also has a switch that allows the selection of a unique Multidrop Node ID.The terminating resistor and Node ID must be set up properly on each of the boards on the bus for the network to function correctly.Whatever the last board on the network bus happens to be, that board must have the network terminator resistor activated via the jumper. All boards prior to the last board on the bus must have the jumpers removed.Note: If a terminator resistor is active on a board prior to the end of the network, communication with boards beyond that point will not be possible.Setup Procedure
Set the Node ID for each board in the Multidrop chain via the dial selector on the board, according to the Table 1.
Install a jumper on the General Purpose Input Board in the Inverter cabinet.
Install a jumper on the last board on the Multidrop bus. Table 1 shows the connection order of the boards in the Series 1200 UPS/ SMS or MMU System. Determine which board is the last in the Multidrop chain and install the terminal resistor on the jumper indicated.Note: Jumpers can go on either pins "1,2" or "2,3" in order to provide terminal resistance. Remove jumper or place on one pin only to remove terminal resistance.
