Do not move machine without normal brake oil pressure (LOW OIL BRAKE indicator not flashing).Be sure area is clear of personnel and obstructions.Fasten seat belt before moving machine.
1. Cycle all controls to test for proper operation. 2. Raise bucket approximately 15 inches (38 cm).3. Depress pedal to apply service brake. 4. Push in PARKING BRAKE control to release parking brake. 5. Move RANGE SELECTOR control to desired direction of travel. 6. Rotate RANGE SELECTOR to desired speed.7. Release brake pedal. 8. Depress accelerator to move machine. It is possible to start the engine when the RANGE SELECTOR lever is in other than NEUTRAL. Should this occur, move the RANGE SELECTOR lever to NEUTRAL for a few seconds, then to desired direction and gear speed.
Speed changes may be made without decelerating or braking.
Directional shifts at full engine speed are permissible while in 1st or 2nd gear. Directional shifts in gear speeds above 2nd should never be made at full engine speed. For safety, operator comfort and maximum service life of power train components, decelerating and/or braking is recommended.
Use the left brake pedal when positioning the machine and raising the bucket at the same time. The left brake pedal disengages the transmission, permitting higher engine speed for better hydraulic response. Use the right brake pedal for normal braking. Travel in reverse when carrying loads down steep grades. Keep the bucket low.
Do not use the service brakes as a retarder. Damage to brakes may result.Reduce ground speed, reduce engine speed to halfway between low and high idle and downshift to 1st gear, before traveling down a steep grade.
Travel forward when moving uphill. Keep the bucket low.Emergency Brake System
The emergency brake will automatically engage and stop the machine if the service brake oil pressure drops to below safe operating pressure.Be prepared for a sudden stop.
The following events will occur when the machine is stopped by automatic application of the emergency brake. 1. LOW BRAKE PRESSURE indicator will come ON (flash on and off) if the application of the emergency brake was caused by the service brake oil pressure dropping below normal. 2. PARKING BRAKE ON indicator will come ON when parking/emergency brake is engaged. Also a horn will sound continuously if operating under a load.
After an emergency stop, shift transmission to NEUTRAL. Increase engine speed to high idle for 3 minutes to increase brake oil pressure.LOW BRAKE PRESSURE indicator should stop flashing. Attempt to release parking/emergency brake. If the indicator continues to flash and the parking/emergency brake will not release, stop engine and park machine.Do not operate machine until brake systems have been inspected and, if necessary, repaired.
In an emergency, the machine can be moved in 1st speed range with emergency brake applied. This may damage the emergency brake. Service the emergency brake before returning machine to operation.
Manual Release of Parking Brake
1. Block wheels to keep machine from rolling when parking brake is released. 2. Connect safety rod to front and rear frames. 3. Remove three bolts from storage holes in cover.
