The problem is probably not with the ECM. There may be an intermittent problem in the harness or in a connector. If you suspect that an intermittent electrical problem exists in the harness or in a connector, refer to Testing and Adjusting, "Electrical Connectors - Inspect" for information that is related to the diagnosis of intermittent electrical problems.If a problem with the ECM is suspected, check that the diagnostic code remains active. Perform this procedure again before considering the replacement of the ECM. STOP
Not OK - At least one of the continuity checks did not agree with the results that are given.Repair: There appears to be a problem in the circuit for the control inputs. The problem is probably in the harness or in a connector that is for the engine control switch. There may be a problem with the engine control switch. Perform the following procedure:
Remove the wires from terminals 1, 3, and 4 at the engine control switch.
Place the engine control switch in each of the switch positions and check for continuity at the terminal locations that are given below. Check your results with the results that are given:

There is a problem with the wiring or one of the connectors that is in the circuit between the engine control switch and the ECM. Use jumper wires to check for continuity in each of the circuits. Perform the necessary repairs. Verify that the repair has eliminated the original problem.If your results do not agree with the results that are given in the Table, there is a problem with the engine control switch.
