Repetitive seal leaks in the vibratory eccentric weight groups have been reported on certain asphalt compactors.Solution:
The issue is currently under investigation. In the interim, we are recommending the use of the vibratory shaft seals used in the CB-534C High Frequency machines for those machines experiencing seal leaks of the vibratory weight shafts. Replace the current 140-8409 Seal and 140-8410 Seal with the 184-9896 Seal and 188-8880 Ring. Lubricate the seals with the same 4C-6767 synthetic oil used in the eccentric weight housing during installation. Use the 141-3028 Seal Installer to ensure the seal is installed straight and to the correct depth. There is no machined seat in the housing for the seal to rest against, so use of the seal driver is essential. When replacing the seals do not use any type of abrasive material to clean the wear sleeves.
