Start By:a. remove right side axle housing only 1. Attach chain and a suitable lifting device to differential case (1). The weight of the differential case is 36 kg (80 lb). 2. Install Tool (A). Remove bearing assembly (2). 3. Turn differential 180°. Install Tool (A). Remove bearing assembly (3). 4. Put identification (location marks) on the differential case halves.
There is spring pressure when bolts (4) are removed. Use a press as shown to prevent possible injury.
5. Place the differential assembly in a press. Use Tool (D) and then remove eight bolts (4). Release pressure slowly to separate the differential case halves.6. Remove differential case halve (5). 7. If necessary, remove bushing (6) from differential case halve (5). 8. Remove side gear (7), spring retainer (8) and spring (9). 9. Remove driven clutch assembly (10), spider assembly (11) and driven clutch assembly (12) as a unit. 10. Remove ring (13) from driven clutch assembly (10) with Tool (B). 11. Separate spider assembly (11) from drive clutch assembly (12). Remove ring (14) from clutch assembly (12) using Tool (B). Remove retaining ring (15) and cam (16) from spider (11) using Tool (C).

Remove spring (17) and spring retainer (18) (not shown) from differential case halve (19). 14. Remove side gear (20) from differential case halve (19). 15. Remove bushing (21) from differential case halve (19). There are twelve large rivets (22) holding gear (23) to differential case halve (19). These rivets would have to be drilled out to be removed. Remove only if wear or damage necessitate. The following steps are for the assembly of the differential assembly. 16. If bushing (21) was removed, install the bushing in case halve (19).17. If removed, install gear (23) on case halve (19). Secure with twelve rivets. 18. Install side gear (20) into case halve (19). 19. Install spring retainer (18) (not shown) and spring (17) over the side gear in the case halve (19). 20. Assemble the components of the two driven clutch assembly and the spider assembly. (Reverse Steps (10) & (11) of the disassembly procedure).21. Position these components as a unit onto spring (17). 22. Install spring (9), spring retainer (8) and side gear (7). 23. If bushing (6) was removed, install the bushing into the bore of case halve (5). 24. Place the differential assembly in a press and position case halve (5) in its original location.25. Use the press and Tool (D) to compress the springs together.26. Install eight bolts (4). Tighten the eight bolts to a torque of 92 to 125 N m (68 to 92 lb ft).27. Heat bearings (2) and (3) to a temperature of 135° C (275° F). Install the bearings onto the differential assembly in their original location. 28. Use chains and a suitable lifting device to install differential assembly (1) as shown. The weight of the
