The Terminal Block for the External Source Sync (ESS) is located on the right panel of the 4-Wire Output Cabinet.The terminal block receives voltage and sync command wires from the following sources:
ESS "J4" connector (via the fuse block)
"J7" ESS Connector

(1) External Source Sync (ESS) Terminal BlockRemoval
When servicing or repairing electric power generation equipment:
Make sure the unit is either locked out or tagged DO NOT OPERATE.
Remove all fuses.
Make sure the generator engine is stopped.
Make sure all batteries are disconnected.
Make sure all capacitors are discharged.
Make sure residual voltage in the rotor, stator and the generator is discharged.Failure to do so could result in personal injury or death.
Perform steps that are listed in Systems Operation, Testing and Adjusting, "Internal Component Preremoval Steps (4 Wire Output Cabinet)" in order to complete the following tasks:
de-energize the system
gain access to internal components

(2) Terminal Screw (3) Retaining Clip (4) Mounting Screw
Disconnect wires leading to and from the terminal block by loosening the terminal screws.Refer to Illustration 2.Note: The wires locations are labeled. Verify the labels on the cables.
Loosen the retaining clip on each side of the terminal with a slotted screwdriver.
Remove the two cross tip screws that are securing the terminal block to the left panel.
Slide the terminal block off the rail.Installation
Slide the terminal block and retaining clips onto the rail.
Attach terminal block to the right panel in the position that is indicated in Illustration 2. Use two cross tip screws in order to attach the terminal block.Refer to Illustration 2.
Slide the retaining clips to both sides of the terminal block. Fasten the retaining clips in place with a slotted screwdriver.
Attach wires to the terminal block. Wires locations are labeled.Refer to Illustration 2.
