Using 7K1181 plastic ties, secure both harnessesto the engine harness, coil any excess harness and secure.
Referencing illustration 4 loosen the adjustingwheel lock screw on the speed switch located in the 2348721 box.
With engine stopped, turn speed switch adjustingwheel up to 100.
Using table 3 find your engine high idle and the"85% verify speed" EXAMPLE: An 1800 rpm engine would have a 85% overspeedverify RPM of 1805 rpm.
To adjust the speed switch, closely follow thesteps below.
Operate the engine at the 85% verify rpm, usingtable 3.
Depress the "85% overspeedverify activation button", while holding this button in, slowly turn the"speed switch adjusting wheel" toward the lower numbers. The engine shouldshutdown.
Cycle the switch on the 2348721 box to the "off/reset"position and then back to the "On" position.
Restart engine.
With engine restarted, depress the "85% overspeedverify activation button" and slowly elevate the engine rpm.
Illustration 4 Customers may opt for replacement airshutoff valves if their engine meets one or both of the following criteria.
Engines operate in a combustible environment i.e.well service or drill rig application.
Air shutoff valves are specifically required bya sanctioning society.
The redundant overspeed protectionsolution described in this service letter meets marine society approvalfor all units not operating in a combustible environment. If new air shutoffvalves are installed the warranty claim must include a brief descriptionof engine application. Engines not operating in, or servicing a combustibleenvironment will be rejected.When electrically actuated air shutoffs are requiredplease order the following parts for engines listed in GROUPS 1, 2,and3. On electrically actuated air shutoff?sremove the diodes from the original air shutoff solenoids and install thesediodes on the new solenoids (polarity does not matter).
When hydraulically actuated air shutoffs arerequired please order the following parts for engines listed in GROUP 4.
When installing new air shutoff valves, useexisting support brackets and hardware (except for 3516B engines with ABBturbochargers, order the brackets listed in chart above). After installationof the air shutoff valves is completed, apply a coating of anti-seize tothe threaded portion of the 2277483 switches, install and torque to 10lbs ft.NOTE: Do NOT use shims or washerson the 2277483 switches.After switches are installed connect 2110194 harnessto the switches and then wire in series into the emergency stop circuit.Utilize the following procedures when wiring switches into the emergencystop circuit. If a remote emergency stop is currently wired into the 40pin "Customer Connector" you must wire the 2110194 harness in seriesto this remote emergency stop circuit.
Find the 40 pin "Customer connector" on the enginebeing serviced.
Remove the two jumper wires from pins 33, 34,20 and 21.
From the 2110194 switch harness, insert wire labeled"Shutdown C IN" into the 40 pin connector at location #33.
From the 2110194 switch harness, insert wire labeled"Shutdown D IN" into the 40 pin connector at location #34.
From the 2110194 switch harness, insert wire labeled"Shutdown C OUT" into the 40 pin connector at location #20.
From the 2110194 switch harness, insert wire labeled"Shutdown D OUT" into the 40 pin connector at location #21.
