Illustration 1 g06029092The PL72 Pipelayer utilizes the new 471-8572 Double Flange Track Roller in all positions on the track frame.The external tread and flange dimensions remain the same as a D6T Heavy-Duty track roller. Therefore, the new roller will use the existing Custom Track Service (CTS) wear charts.The new roller is also a permanently sealed, maintenance-free design like most current D6T track rollers. It is serviced only as a group.Each roller uses the following mounting hardware as mentioned in Table 1.

Abutment end cap after final assembly on track roller frame.
(A) Solid abutment side
(B) Gapped side
Verify that track roller frame mounting surfaces are clean and flat.
Slide the roller cap over the end of the shaft.
Place track rollers on track roller frame so that the flat part of the shaft is against the track roller frame.
Apply anti-seize to bolt threads. Install track roller bolts and washers through the cap and into the track frame.
Tighten bolt on the side (A) that is marked "Tighten First" to 520 70 N m (384 52 lb ft).
Tighten the bolt on the gapped side (B) to 520 70 N m (384 52 lb ft).
A 2 mm (0.08 inch) to 3 mm (0.12 inch) gap will remain between cap and roller frame.
Repeat for the cap on other end of roller shaft.
