Removal Procedure
Keep all parts clean from contaminants.Contaminants may cause rapid wear and shortened component life.
Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting and repair of the product. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids.Refer to Special Publication, NENG2500, "Caterpillar Tools and Shop Products Guide" for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids on Caterpillar products.Dispose of all fluids according to local regulations and mandates.
Drain the coolant from the cooling system into a suitable container for storage or disposal. Refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual, "Cooling System Coolant - Change".
Disconnect the harness assembly for the coolant temperature switch.

Remove coolant temperature switch (1) from water temperature regulator housing (2) .
Inspect coolant temperature switch (1) for damage. If the coolant temperature switch is damaged, use a new part for replacement. For information on testing the coolant temperature switch for correct operation, refer to Testing and Adjusting, "Coolant Temperature Switch - Test".Installation Procedure

Note: Apply Tooling (A) to the threads of coolant temperature switch (1) .
Install coolant temperature switch (1) into the water temperature regulator housing. Tighten coolant temperature switch (1) to a torque of 27 N m (20 lb ft).
Connect the harness assembly for the coolant temperature switch.
Fill the cooling system with coolant to the correct level. Refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual, "Refill Capacities" for additional information.
