Removal Procedure
Start By:
Remove the engine side panel. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Side Panel - Remove".
Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting and repair of the machine. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids.Refer to Special Publication, NENG2500, "Caterpillar Tools and Shop Products Guide", for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids in Caterpillar machines.Dispose of all fluids according to local regulations and mandates.

Disconnect tube assembly (1) .

Disconnect tube assembly (2) .
Remove bolts (4). Disconnect turbocharger (3) from exhaust manifold (7) .
Loosen clamps (5). Disconnect pipe (6) .

Remove hose (8) from turbocharger (3). Remove turbocharger (3) and the gasket from pipe (9) .Installation Procedure

A 5P-3931 Anti-Seize Compound 1
Check the condition of the gasket that is used between the turbocharger and the exhaust manifold. If the gasket is damaged, use a new part for replacement.

Note: Put Tooling (A) on the threads of all bolts.
Install turbocharger (3) onto pipe (9). Install hose (8) onto turbocharger (3) .

Install a gasket between turbocharger (3) and exhaust manifold (7). Install bolts (4). Do not tighten at this time.
Connect pipe (6). Tighten clamps (5) .
Check the condition of the gaskets that are used between the turbocharger and the tube assemblies. If the gaskets are damaged, use a new part for replacement.
Connect tube assembly (2) .

Connect oil supply line (1) .

Tighten bolts (4) .End By: Install the engine side panel. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Side Panel - Install".
