Inspect the Connecting Rod
Inspect the connecting rod for wear or cracking.
Inspect the piston pin bearing and the piston pin for wear and other damage. Check the piston pin bearing for a clogged oil hole.Note: Be sure that the oil holes of the piston pin bearing and the small end of the connecting rod are lined up.
Inspect the connecting rod bolts for stripped threads.Measure Clearances and End Play

Measure the clearance of the piston pin in the piston pin bearing. Refer to Specifications, "Connecting Rod" for clearance dimensions.

Install the connecting rod to the connecting rod journal. Tighten the bolts to the correct torque.
Measure the end play. Refer to Specifications, "Connecting Rod" for end play values.
If the end play exceeds the service limit, replace the connecting rod.
